The Dresscode Project (DCP), a global alliance of gender affirming salons + shops, announces the launch of their newest initiative, Difference Makers. A Difference Maker is a human whom is passionate about helping spread awareness, online and off, of the Salon Alliance, safer space education and the outreach Dresscode Project is bringing globally.

The DCP launch group of amazing individuals whom are making a commitment to a better future for professional beauty, clients and humans in general are made of industry names such as Nina Kovner of Passion Squared and Annie Lerwill & Erin Short of The Hair Nerds

“Inclusivity and creating gender affirming, safer spaces for queer folks is one of many values the Dresscode Project and Passion Squared shares.” Nina Kovner expresses. She continues, “As a member of the queer community and one who has personally struggled with my own gender since childhood, knowing that folks are learning how to create gender affirming experiences in the salon is inspiring and gives me hope. While hair has no gender, our hair is an incredibly important part of our identity, and Dresscode Project is helping lead the way to help our world be more inclusive, accepting and affirming of all genders. It is an honor to be part of this movement, bring more awareness to our community and support our clients in creating safe, loving spaces for their clients.”

The Difference Makers initiative also currently includes U.S & Canadian hairdressers and cosmetology school instructors such as Sarah Mendoza, Krista Stevenson, Kate Spata, Andrea Jansen, Jason Mitchell and Blythe Lundy.

“You will see them sharing their personal stories, stories from their clients, friends and family, helping spread awareness of all the Dresscode Project initiatives and just being amazing individuals and Ally’s to marginalized communities.” says Dresscode Project Founder, Kristin Rankin.

Dresscode Project is paving the way in the professional beauty industry by helping salons become safer spaces allowing their clients to receive gender affirming salon experiences and sharing the education that is greatly needed so all people everywhere receive the services that make them feel seen. They are also accepting applications to help grow this group of people worldwide.
