Life story in 3 Sentences

I was born and raised in Utah, my moms first baby so you know I am the favorite child and grandchild. My life consisted of school and dance until I graduated and started my apprenticeship at Hausofflint and I have been going nonstop since. Now my life consists of working with a dope group of people, making people feel beautiful, and going on adventures in my free time.

What word best describes the feeling you had when you finished your NAHA shoot?

Accomplished. I have always dreamed of being nominated for a NAHA let alone be able to shoot one. Watching my first collection come together, through the stress tears of course, was such an amazing feeling that I'll never forget. I found a journal of mine from probably 2018 or so, and I was flipping through the pages and I found a sheet of Long Term goals. At the very bottom of the list High School Aubrey wrote "Be Nominated for a NAHA." When I found this I had a little melt down because it was reassurance to myself that I am on the right path and following my dreams.

Beyond hair, what other creative outlets do you have?

My other creative outlet beyond hair is dance, although I haven't danced in a while, I have my whole life so it definitely holds a special spot in my heart and always will.

How has competing helped you as an artist?

Competing has helped me push myself to branch into a more creative hairstylist and of course be more competitive. It's motivated me to think more outside of the box and think about what would make me stand out. It has given me the confidence to push my name out into the industry, even though I am still a little baby hair nerd, I plan on going far and never stopping.

Best advice you have ever been given.

Everything happens for a reason. You will always end up where you are meant to be, therefore no matter what positive or negative circumstances you are placed in, there will always be a reasoning and a positive outcome. Sometimes the world has to beat you down to build you to be a stronger person to become the best version of yourself and that makes life beautiful.

If you weren't going to school for hair, what other route would you have taken?

I think I would end up in some sort of design profession. Like interior designing or working with clothing. However I don't really see myself doing anything else in this moment and time.

What podcasts are you currently obsessed with?

Call her Daddy of course! I also like to listen to crime podcasts like Crime Junkie and Cold. Yes I am that crazy person that likes to listen to the twisted stories of crooked people in our world...

What do you want your future self to remember about this time in your life?

You worked your ass off and it pays off. Even though I'm always a perfectionist and feel the need to be perfect and know how to do everything I know this is unrealistic. However this pushes me to be the best version of myself and I know my future self will strive and be successful from this and be appreciative that I was so hard on myself.

I knew I was a Hair Nerd when...

I knew I was a Hair Nerd when I would go into the hair school my aunt and instructor worked at and watched the students taking their clients and creating hair pieces for their hair shows and wanting to have a part in it. When I turned 16 I started working there in Dispense and I would always study the products and colors and take any kind of knowledge I could from it. Whenever I would give the students their color I wished I was the one going to do the color. Ever since then I knew that this was exactly what I wanted to end up doing.
