Tell us all about Coastline Enterprise and the type of education people can expect.

We provide real deal education. The foundation of our company is our four day Color Freaks and Geeks class where we teach the chemistry of hair and hair color. All of our creative classes incorporate how imperative it is to know the structure of hair first, and then get inspired to be creative.

What about educating has fueled your passion to start KoLAB?

Several things! We have been at this for years and along the way so many people have said, we want to teach, and quite frankly we never had the structure or the team in place to help create a format to teach people how to educate others. We finally have an amazing core people in place and just launched our first Train the Trainer program in October of this year! This is an opportunity for anyone, independents or people that want to be affiliated with a brand get the training they need to be successful.

What makes your classes different from what we are seeing right now in the industry?

Our classes are different because they are all done UNIVERSALLY! We do not discuss product in any of our classes. We don’t care what line you use, we will teach you how to use it better.

Why is continued education so important?

Continuing education is so important because we are in an industry of CHANGE! Of course there are foundations that are important and never go away but man, this industry is changing and growing and evolving so fast. I have taken so many different classes just this year. From social media, balayage, bridal, finishing, the list goes on and on. If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got – there are so many new and interesting people out there and thanks to social media you can learn from them all!

I knew I was a Hair Nerd when…

This is embarrassing to admit, but if I am super honest, when I was 11 years old we were on a camping trip with families that we always went with. One of the girls, with the most long, gorgeous, blonde hair refused to let me braid her, even though I obnoxiously begged. I spent the rest of the weekend sulking. Even though I was young, I had a good idea that was not normal, lol!
