Dan Perri
L.A. is a town where people chase big dreams. Some are loud about their conquests. While others pursue their efforts with quiet diligence. Enter the world of Dan Perri Hair where elegance, mystery and craftsmanship meld to create exquisite hair.
Four years ago, this Florida native headed out west to sunny Los Angeles. In this short time, he’s been making huge strides albeit under the radar. So we’re here to shed some light on his accolades. In addition to his private studio at Salon Republic Hollywood, Dan travels often as a BaByliss Pro Educator. He also caters to an ever-growing roster of celebrity clients: Jesse Wellens, Shaun White, Earth Wind & Fire, MGK, Makonnen, PrettyMuch, David Guetta, Capitol Records, Atlantic Records and even some that require an NDA…shhhh!
We caught up with Dan Perri at his studio in Hollywood. Pull up a chair…

What would Dan tell little Dan on the first day of Beauty School?
Take it more seriously. I was 17/18 when I was in school. I wish I’d paid better attention and had more focus then. Everything counts. Be more social. Enjoy the freedom cause it’s the most important time.
A product you would pay (gasp) retail for…
I really love Hanz de Fuko: Quicksand and Sponge Wax.
What traumatic hairstyle have you been guilty of rocking?
Ha! No “traumatic” hairstyles. When I was younger, my Mom used to cut our hair. She always kept us looking fresh. But when I got older, I do remember sporting that ‘Wild Thing’ cut from Major League. Actually, I should bring that cut back. Oh, and I had some Ricky Martin-style ‘guylights!
Who is your Hair-Hero?
Vidal Sassoon
Who are three Hair-Hero’s you would love to collaborate with?
Jason Schneider – love his energy and strong sense of family.
Hudson Hair – We’ve collaborated in the U.K. I’d love to do it again.
Kevin Luchmun – love his precision and bold work.
Something most people don’t know about you…
I’m not a barber. I’m actually a licensed cosmetologist. And I’m an avid golfer!
Words you live by…
Hold the vision. Trust the process.
Do you have a fave/signature cut/look you like to execute?
I’m really into cleaner sides with a longer flow on top. Creating the proper shape for their head. I like to show off both short & long with scissor and clipper work. Product only goes so far. It’s all about detail work.
What is your fave hair trend at the moment?
Crop hair… From a fade to heavy top with a blunt fringe. Euro style.
How did you become an educator?
It was through networking. I was recruited by Babyliss Pro two years ago. It’s something I didn’t expect to happen. But I’m so glad it did. I really enjoy teaching and sharing hair.
Next personal/business goals?
A product line. Continue growing my celebrity clientele and working as an educator for Babyliss Pro. Perhaps my own salon in the future…
How do you balance session work/house calls for private clients with salon work?
I’m still working on this! Ha!! It can get tricky sometimes. Private/Celebrity clients can happen at any given moment. Balancing those moments within my salon days can be interesting. But, I love both aspects of my work.
I knew I was a Hair Nerd when…
I always had a natural affinity for hair. I was in seventh-grade when I performed my first haircut. It was a buzz cut.
