Debra Dietrich at Paul Mitchell The School Santa Barbra

Debra Dietrich is a visionary beauty expert who has that unique ability to see the end result. Known as an Alternative Hairdresser, Debra is not only a talented Hair Stylist but is also a respected Makeup Artist. With years of salon experience, a Associates Degree in Cosmetology from Northern Montana College and a professional role with John Paul Mitchell Systems since 1988, Debra has many resources upon which to draw. Contemporary, fashion forward, multi-texture, barbering/clipper work and lace front wigs are all part of her repertoire.

Debra believes strongly in giving back. As Director of the Spa Getaway for non-profit, Meeting the Need and advocate of Ms. Wheelchair America, she has dedicated countless hours raising awareness and funds for this cause. Debra also led the way for the Paul Mitchell Advanced Academy team by taking her “Trending Tour” on the road 2012 raising over $90,000.

Debra is currently an Advanced Academy Educator for Paul Mitchell Schools and Co-founder of MUSE BEAUTY.PRO.

We attended Debra’s class at Paul Mitchell The School, Santa Barbra. The gorgeous school is in a two-story standalone building offering 15,000-square-feet of education and salon space. The school was founded in 2007 and located in the heart of Downtown Santa Barbara in the Santa Barbara District, near the upscale Paseo Nuevo Mall.

Recognized by Paul Mitchell Schools with awards for Excellence in Branding and the beauty school network’s Best Wash House, they hold their school, staff, and students to very high standards. Free Hugs events, fashion shows, and FUNraising keep Paul Mitchell The School Santa Barbara in the news for not just an amazing education, but compassionate community service.

Of course as dedicated Hair Nerds when we hear that some of our favorite people are teaching and they are only a few hours from us, we get in the car and go! After our long overnight drive, we arrived in Santa Barbra to Paul Mitchell The School to be greeted by CJ Rebecky, Sam Burns and Starbucks! They sure do know how to make us girls feel welcome!

We eagerly took our seats and being surrounded by all these #Cosmobabies made it feel like the first time you took a class all over again. Sam Burns (Director) started off by introducing Debra and giving a little background on her long time career in the industry, beauty website and even talked about US!

Once it was time for Debra to present, she was kind enough to let us pick which topic she would talk about that morning since we were only able to make it to one of her presentations that day. We chose “The Photoshoot”, from planning to execution, discovering how to do an amazing photoshoot. We didn’t regret our decision!

We took a short break in the middle of the day to have lunch with CJ, Sam and Debra and talked about wanting to stay for the other class. We had loved the first one so much we rearranged the rest of our day just to make it to the second class “Building a Pro Kit” where Debra talked about different types of makeup, brushes and her website Muse Beauty. Debra has a few more classes coming up through the end of 2014, and we’re definitely looking forward to them.
