Stereotypes

Let’s talk about stereotypes for a second. It seems to me that the masses expect hairdressers and people in probeauty to be super bubbly and extroverted. This is something that has kind of always made me feel like I don’t belong.

It isn’t that I am any less enthusiastic about the industry than my talkative counterparts, it just takes me a bit to warm up to new people.

Years ago when The Hair Nerds was in it’s infancy, I would grab a cocktail at events first thing. A little liquid courage so I could be “ON”... but that isn’t me. I’m not the girl who is going to seek you out from across the room and strike up a conversation. I also have a RBF.

What are your thoughts?

Is being an introvert a no go for being a hairdresser?

Do you ever feel pressure to pretend to be something you aren’t?
