Top 5 Tools for Busy Digital Entrepreneurs

Mandy Zelinka is the former Digital Marketing Manager for KEVIN.MURPHY International and owned one of the largest award-winning salons in Portland, Oregon. Currently, she is the Chief Troublemaker at The Zelinka Agency, a global community of like-minded hairstylists, small business owners, and right-brained entrepreneurs dedicated to building and maintaining high standards for ourselves, our clients, and our industry.

Entrepreneurs and small business owners are always short on time and money – let’s get you from where you are to where you want to be in the most cost-effective, time-efficient manner. Ready? Let’s go!

1. SQUARESPACE

I did my taxes last year and found that I save over THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS simply by switching my website from WordPress. That’s a ton of dough! And with a super-duper easy to navigate layout and a $16 a month fee to host it you almost can’t afford not to switch over.

2. MEET EDGAR

I was hesitant at first to make the jump – pre-scheduled evergreen content sounded so impersonal. But when the time I had for doing social media started impeding on our other pressing duties I hesitantly signed up. So glad I did.

For $50 a month I am now able to schedule an ENTIRE SIX WEEKS worth of content in one day. Best part? Once I schedule 4 months worth I can set it up to recycle its own content without looking as if I’m doing so since the sheer amount of content scheduled will only repeat itself three times a year.

>> At $50 this is for serious Digital Marketers. On the other hand, the price is quite cost effective considering how much a social media manager would cost you. After you sign up for the free trial there’s an awesome video that takes you through how to schedule. It’s very user friendly and easy to navigate.

3. SCHEDUGRAM

These guys are based out of Australia and their site looks a little 1995 beta which put me off at first, but I’m never one to shy away from a free trial – so I dove in. Schedugram is one of only two (as of now) approved apps to schedule Instagram content. I can’t tell you how much easier it’s been to keep up with my Insta presence since I signed up. Instead of navigating my tiny phone with my clutzy fingers instead I can do it from the comfort of my keyboard while catching up on trash tv in bed. If that’s not considered a win I don’t know what is.

>> You can’t beat $20 a month for an Instagram scheduler.

4. BOARDBOOSTER

Admittedly, we JUST signed up for this, but it comes on the advice of one of our favorite Digital Marketers so we decided to try it out. Free to try it out, it helps you schedule Pinterest pins which is exciting because honestly, WHO HAS TIME TO DO ALL THE THINGS?! We sure don’t! I’m down with taking a little help from our app friends.

5. iMOVIE

I didn’t want to learn one more thing (who does?) but finally, the time had come. I love my Filmora go app, but sadly once it’s viewed on a real-sized screen it gets pixelated which is bad for our brand. iMovie is so simple to edit it’s ridiculous. I’m almost ashamed I took so long to dive in. Like all apple things it works like you assume it will and you only need to know like three commands to even edit anything which is great for our limited attention spans!

>> Learn iMovie in under 5 minutes. (Seriously.)
