W.O.W. Welcome to Our World
Hair Nerds need to be engaged in all aspects of the industry....not just what is happening inside the salon and hair show walls. Welcome to Our World is an excellent way for you to get involved and make difference by putting some of your skills to good use and contributing to our industry.
What is W.O.W. ?
Welcome to Our World (W.O.W.) is one of Capitol Hill's most anticipated events of the year put together by the Professional Beauty Federation. Featuring complimentary salon services along with hors d'oeuvres, beverages and a bag o' swag for every attendee. The intent of this event is to create awareness for the professional beauty industry's key issues like education criteria regulations, consumer protection, taxation standards, fairness in financial aid for our students, and small business support.
Who is the Professional Beauty Federation (PBF)?
The Professional Beauty Federation (PBF) is a grassroots organization of professional salon industry companies and associations that works to advance and strengthen the professional salon industry throughout the United States.
PBF's members see 400 million client visits per year. PBF represents independent and chain salons and their employees, cosmetology schools, cosmetology students, and product distributors and manufacturers of products sold only in professional salons.
Why does this matter to you?
Our industry accounts for annual sales of more than $60 billion in the U.S. alone. We have steadily increased in growth over the last decade, registering over 1.1 million licensees and 900,000 beauty establishments in 2011 and still growing. We contribute to our State and to the Federal Tax Revenue yearly, so as you can see this hits home for each and everyone of us, making it a great idea to plug in and see how you can get involved.
