7 Ways to Make Hair Nerd Travel a Bit Easier

Travel can be a real drag, we get it… many a meltdown has occurred at the gate of an airport as a flight was announced delayed for a third time. Instead of dreams that you show up naked to high school, Erin has a recurring dream she accidentally checks an empty suitcase.

Learn from our decade of travel wins and misses and let us help make your next Hairventure a happy one.

Make a list, check it twice

Make a packing list with all the items you need for the trip. This is honestly the best thing we do for ourselves, especially for a big hairventure vs a weekend show or class. Feel free to use our PDF packing list, or the notes app on your phone is wonderful too.

Clothes

Choose versatile clothing items that can be mixed and matched. For shorter trips we like to pack the full outfit for each day in its own packing cube. For longer trips like our Hairventures, we will bring outfit options that we can mix and match and then wash and re-ware.

As time has gone on and we have been lucky to travel as much as we have, we learned that having a capsule wardrobe is much easier (and cheaper) vs purchasing fast-fashion to have a new outfit at each event.

Travel Sized

Pack travel-sized toiletries to save space. This comes purely from the time we bought a brand new full sized bottle of our favorite face wash and it exploded in our bag. Save the heartache - bring the travel sized items.

If you’re not a fan of the amount of trash the little sizes make, check out our amazon storefront for the reusable bottles we use ourselves.

Packing cubes

Use packing cubes or compression bags to maximize space and keep items organized. These are a MUST in the life of these Hair Nerds. Not only are they great for compression and saving space, but they’re wonderful to help separate outfits and lessen the anxiety of not knowing what to wear.

Know your comfort zone

We have found it is essential to be comfortable whether we’re in a car, plane or train. This isn’t so much about clothing, but more about comfort items.

Annie loves wearing earplugs to help lessen the background noise of the world and Loop are her go-to brand. She also loves anything that makes flying more comfortable and these Trtl neck supports are the bee’s knees.

Erin loves a padded eye mask that has a little extra room for her lashes. They’re fully light blocking and while on a red-eye flight she can sleep a little better knowing her lashes aren’t getting smashed.

Drink Water

If you don’t already have one… get a water bottle and keep it full and drink plenty.

Hotel Points

Sign up for hotel loyalty programs and try sticking to those brand of hotels to earn points and gain rewards. Read more about it here.

Hope this helps and we’ll see you on our hairventures!
