How does competing help you as an artist?

It helps me push past my boundaries.

Beyond hair, what other creative outlets do you have?

Before becoming a licensed cosmetologist, I worked in many mediums of art. Performance, dance, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and digital art. I still love them and incorporate them in all of my hairart.

What was your biggest F-up with a client?

Real life advice to someone entering the world of cosmetology

Our industry provides amazing flexibility to develop your creative career. Opportunity is everywhere! Your pursuit of happiness is your journey in everything in life. It is up to you to leap knowing inevitably there will be failure and trial to come. It will not be the same without it.

I knew I was a Hair Nerd when…

I had always loved watching hair stylist behind the chair and growing up. After Majoring in art in college and trying to decide where I wanted my artistic career to go, I had spent several months debating as to whether or not to enroll in cosmetology school. I was getting ready in my bathroom and with the flip of a switch of my hair dryer…I just knew.
