Thirst Educational Tour
Water… vital to our industry; necessary for our existence… Yet close to 1 billion people don’t have access to clean and safe drinking water. In July, we popped into Beacon where Eden spoke to the winners about her journey in the beauty industry and The Thirst Project. As they broke for lunch, the students crowded around her to chat and take pictures. The connection was immediate and we knew instantly that Eden loved Cosmo Babies just as much as we did!
As we gathered around Seth and Eden with our friends, The Hair Nerd’s mission became clear. We want to involve the cosmetology schools in this incredible organization because we know that when you give Cosmo Babies a cause, they will show up and fight. No other group is more passionate in our industry. If there is one thing these Nerds know, it is Hair School.
Enter our brilliant plan… We lure world class educators to schools across the country and then convince them to teach a class so we can donate the proceeds to The Thirst Project. It seems pretty straight forward, right? Now let us divulge the details where we also are asking that highly talented educator to waive their day rate, travel with us and miss their own work…. yeah… so it gets a bit trickier. Not to mention we needed to find awesome school owners who would let us bring our Nerd Circus to their students.
Luckily we know some of the most amazing humans in the world. Larry Curtis, owner of Taylor Andrews Academy, attended Eden’s Beauty Gives Back kick off party during NAHA with us. Afterwards he said, “Anything you need me or my school for… we are in. We want to help. We want to support this cause. “ BINGO!! So we had a location….. now we just needed a really killer educator.
We dug deep into our bag of stalking tricks and sent Cole Thompson, Creative Director at the Santa Monica Sassoon Academy, this direct Instagram photo…
Dum Duh Dum… Cole cautiously responded inquiring what sort of favor we might be needing. You can only stalk a guy for so long before he begins to fear for his safety so we get it. We explained our fundraising idea to him and with the help of Wayne Woodruff the rest is history.
So we set a date and started purchasing plane tickets. At the end of the day our group had turned into Cole Thompson, Wayne Woodruff, Eden Sassoon, Seth Maxwell and The Nerds….
When we approached Eden about an educational tour she was in true Eden fashion totally on board and set to help in anyway imaginable. That is the awesome thing about Eden she doesn’t just say she supports something…. She actively throws her heart and soul into a cause.
