A New Form of Beauty Hits NYFW

Wildform, the brain child of Caroline Mascolo and Cesar Ramirez, showcased their burgeoning lifestyle beauty brand offering 100% ethically sourced, ready to wear “completely genderfluid” hair wigs and extensions at NYFW.

From box braids to “man buns”, we all know hair has always been a platform for cultural and gender affirmation, transcendence, rebellion and expression. The special power of hair makes it a unique responsibility of those in the industry to be at the forefront of being more inclusive.

This is why the Marco Marco Collection Seven show featuring Fashion Week’s first ever all transgender lineup was a monumental step forward for queer inclusivity in fashion. The wigs and hairpieces included in the show were specially crafted by Wildform.

“I’m extremely proud of the growth I’ve seen amongst my LGBT community and when I heard Marco Marco was producing an all-trans cast runway show I knew I wanted Wildform to be involved,” says brand co-founder Cesar Ramirez.

“We are a brand dedicated in diminishing stigmas and celebrating diversity so it was a perfect fit for us.”

Equipped with a talented stylist team of 15 from across the country, the stylist team prepped wigs for weeks before showtime, devoting thoughtful love and intention into each look, and taking each model’s unique personality into careful consideration. Each look was colored exclusively with oVertone color conditioners and completed with Living Proof’s (our ultimate obsession) wide range of styling products to bring their Wildform to life.

We’re excited about WILDFORM as a fluid brand, that transcends the very tired rhetoric of “men’s” and “women’s” wigs to explore the ethereal gray spaces and infinite spectrums of expression and identity. This wig concept tosses out the old rulebook and roots itself in the indeterminate, where expression is not bound to binary identities.

While hair has been fluid before folks marketed it as such, it’s still so special that a company actively supports LGBTQ inclusion and visibility. The Marco Marco show is a reminder that all types of bodies and identities are worthy of quality products and deserve to be represented in high fashion.
