Since its humble beginnings in 1989, NAHA finalists and industry elite have brought this iconic photographic beauty competition to new heights year after year. NAHA continues to recognize the beauty industry’s most talented artists and advance the careers of stylists around the world. Nothing makes us happier than meeting artists we REALLY want to root for… Good people who love the industry, value education and aren’t afraid to put in the hard work.

Beyond hair, what other creative outlets do you have?

I’m a huge music lover and played the violin and piano while growing up. Love to be surrounded by music. I was also and artist in college so there is a love for visually beautiful things but designing and doing shoots like NAHA are my creative outlet. I’m a stylist by day, work behind the chair 5 day a week and a traveling educator on the weekends with Keune so this is the ultimate in creative outlets for me.

Tell us your life story in 3 sentences.

I’m the son of a farmer and grew up on a 100 acre farm. My life has been about family and building a future for me and my husband but a life without passion is not worth living. I try to find passion in all the things I do.

If you weren’t doing this, what would you be doing?

A musician for an awful sudo 80’s alternative music tribute band

Whats your biggest fear in life or your career?

To not succeed. To have lived my life and not have a life of happiness, love and passion to look back on.

Real life advice to someone entering the world of cosmetology.

This is not how it will be when you are out doing hair on your own. Halfway through hair school I got scared because I HATED IT! So I was pleasantly surprised that working in a salon is nothing like that. Learn as much as you can. Go to every class, workshop, academy you can find that gives quality education. Get out there and find your niche and just do it.

I knew i was a Hair Nerd when…

I know the exact moment…. I as at the Keune Academy in Atlanta and I was preping for a two day long hair styling class I was co-facilitating with another educator and as I was flat ironing a mannequin and fussing over every little detail I realized I am that person who is so obsessed with every aspect of hair and can get totally engrossed in the process of something so simple as flat ironing hair.
