We adore Traci Sakosits as she exemplifies all the things we hope to be… strong, passionate, kind, immensely talented but most importantly a good human. Traci shared what her what quarantine looked like, a story about Vidal that made our jaws drop and why the new Sassoon Online site is your new best friend.

Tell us your life story in 3 sentences.

I am a lover of people and travels, mother of an amazing boy named Charlie, and have dedicated over 25 years to the craft of hairdressing with the Sassoon ethos at its core.

Is there a moment from the early part of your career that really sticks out? 

There are so many fantastic moments in my career with Vidal Sassoon salons and academies and the team. The one directly related to Vidal the man that I remember like it was yesterday, happened in Beverly Hills. I was a new stylist to the Sassoon Salon, recently transferred from Sassoon salon NYC.

As I was finishing a bob on one of my first new clients, Vidal was in the salon having his hair cut with the Salon Director. When I completed the haircut, Vidal called myself and the client over. He asked the client to swing her hair, and as it fell back into place, he complimented the look. He said to her with the most focused and special tone of voice “Yes , Beautiful “. I thanked him, the client smiled confidently and we walked to reception. At that moment I thought that maybe I could retire then and there.

You recently launched the Sassoon Online Membership site. What about this is so special?

Quarantine has been bananas, how have you coped?  

Stopped, listened and learned new things. Most of it taken with a positive, opportunistic attitude. 

What is something you started during this time that you want to continue as the world starts spinning again? 

Taking time to enjoy the things that are in front of you, the simple things like cooking, gardening walking being outside … creating newness. 

What is your proudest accomplishment within the industry?  

My long held career and position with Sassoon, that has given me the ability to share hair and inspire people from around the world.

Being a mother to my now 10 year old son Charlie.  

What advice would you give to a hairdresser who is just starting out? 

Always have a want for more. Nothing is impossible and find a great mentor. 

If you could only listen to 3 albums for the rest of your life, what would they be and why? 

Can’t even to begin to answer this one, Music has always been one of those things that changes with me ….. 

Favorite thing to do that isn't hair. 

Spend time with my son watching him grow and develop, I learn so much from him and am consistently trying to be my personal best as his mother.

Something most people don't know about me is...  

Italy is a place I want to live at some point in my life. 

I have a love for football (soccer). 

Learning new things is addictive. 

I knew I was a #HairNerd when...

There was a time that I didn’t know anyone that wasn’t in the industry.
