North American Trend Vision Awards is at the heart and soul of what we live for… Every year we wait to see the Top 25 semi-finalists and then the finalists leading their models down the runway. We can’t help but get excited as we think back to our very first NATVA and how it helped shape our futures.
Tell us about the moment you knew that one day you would be a hair stylist?
I always had a love for beauty industry. I would braid hair for my friends and family. The moment I knew I wanted to be a Cosmetologist was the day I walked in Ogle for my interview. I felt a peace that I never felt, I fell in love with everything about hair. I would call it love at first sight.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years I see myself opening my second Salon and Spa in Kansas.
What one word describes how you felt when you found out you were a finalist?
Honored
What’s one thing you would have told yourself on the first day of cosmetology school knowing what you know now?
One thing I would tell me on my first day of cos. school. “You got this girl, believe in you”.
What do you think the biggest struggle stylists are experiencing in the industry today?
The biggest struggle a Stylist has today is being judged on their talent by the way we look. Hair is hair, as stylist we know how to protect the integrity of all types of hair. So if I take you to my chair please trust I know what I’m doing.
Something most people don’t know about you.
one thing most people don’t know about me is that when I was a child I wanted to grow up to be a mortician.
What traumatic hairstyle have you been guilty of rocking?
The most traumatic hairstyle I’ve worn would be microwave ponytails. lol I was 12, my sister, cousin and I, would spritz hair extensions, roller set them and cook them in the microwave to dry them. The rap the extension around our ponytails, and tease them as big as possible. scary I know it’s surprising we never blew up anything. lol
I started rolling roller sets on my mannequin to relax. lo
